Smartphones and children have become a big talking point recently because this is an issue that every family in Britain today has to contend with. There’s very little advice out there on this issue, and many of us aren’t sure what approach to take. No previous generation of parents or young people have had to deal with this like we do.
Following a presentation in June 2025, St Luke’s has become a member of the grassroots movement Smartphone Free Childhood which has spread rapidly across the UK recently. Information below highlights some of the issues around smartphones and children, and how we can all work together to improve the situation collectively for our children.
While we do not currently allow smartphones in school and are already smart phone free, in response to the Smartphone Free Childhood Campaign, moving forwards, we are strongly encouraging all parents to do 3 things collectively together:
