Mr Gannaway is the class teacher and Mrs Watson is the teaching assistant. On this page, you will find information about Class 6, news, pictures of things we've done, and more.
Arrival and Collection Times
Children should use the one-way system to enter and exit school, entering and leaving via their external classroom door.
Children in Year R, 2 and 4 are expected to arrive between 8.45am – 8.55am and be collected between 3.15pm and 3.25pm
Children in Year 1,3, 5 and 6 are expected to arrive between 8.50am -9.00am and be collected between 3.20pm and 3.30pm
Where siblings are in classes with different arrival and collection times, they should arrive at 8.50am and be collected at 3.20pm
Breakfast Club & After School Club - Children in Year R, 1 to 6 should arrive as normal and be taken to Breakfast Club room. They will be taken to their Classroom ready for lessons. Breakfast Club will be open from 7.45am. After School Club will be open until 5.45pm.
Stationery - It would be great if you could provide your child with a pencil case containing the following equipment:
ruler
glue stick
HB pencil and pencil sharpener
A fibre tipped writing pen
Colouring pencils
Highlighter pens
Green biro
It would be helpful if the pencil case is relatively small as there will be limited space on tables and in trays. If you are unable to supply this equipment, we will provide this as required.
P.E. - Children in Class 6 will need to come to school wearing their school uniform every day but remember to bring their P.E. kit into school to change in to every Monday and Friday. Please note that starting from 6th May, Year 6 children will need to bring their swimming kit for swimming lessons every Friday.

Spellings - Every Monday, your child will be taught a new spelling rule to practise during the week, ready for a spelling test on the Friday. Please spend time at home practising these spellings using "look, say, cover, write, check" in the Spelling Homework Booklet, as well as discussing the spelling rule. Please ensure that Homework Books are kept in school bags. You can also log on to Spelling Shed by visiting https://play.edshed.com

During the year, we will use a range of texts to develop our reading skills. The texts we will use are detailed below and will be updated throughout the year.
As a school, we place emphasis on teaching Maths using a Maths Mastery approach. We place emphasis on children learning to develop their fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. We use Maths No Problem Textbooks and Workbooks in school. to find out more visit https://mathsnoproblem.com/en/parent-videos/ to watch parent videos about how maths is taught at St Luke's.
The table below highlights the textbook and chapters we are learning in Year 6.
If you wish to purchase a copy of the Textbooks (A and B) or Wokbooks (A and B) for use at home, and also to find out more about how maths in taught in school, these are available to order at http://mathsnoproblem.co.uk/mathematics/primary-key-stage1-and-key-stage-2/maths-no-problem.html
We ask all parents to support children with learning their number bonds and times tables at home; this is key to children being successful as mathematicians.
