Activities for Year 6 During School Closure

Thank you for visiting our class blog page.  Please find below specific activities for use at home during the school closure. The more routine and structure you can plan into your time at home, the better. You may decide to have a set timetable each day, e.g. English at 9am,  Maths at 10am, etc.  Alternatively, you might like to just have a list of different activities for the day/ week and tick them off when completed. As always, parents should be mindful and supervise children online in addition to being mindful of children taking part in a balance of traditional activity and on line activity during the day.

I will be updating this page weekly.

Please support your children as they complete activities, praising them for the effort they are putting in and when they have completed it, check it, share any successes and things they could do to improve.

If you need to contact me or would like to share pictures of some amazing learning, please email me: m.gannaway@st-lukes.hants.sch.uk and I will endeavour to reply as soon as possible. Thank you to those of you who have sent me some work. You can see some examples by clicking on the link below.

Maths No Problem

As a school, we place emphasis on teaching Maths using a Maths Mastery approach. We place emphasis on children learning to develop their fluency, reasoning and problem solving skills. We use Maths No Problem Maths Textbooks and Workbooks in school. Year 6 Parent Presentation

18.09 Brilliant Beginning to our Energy Project

We had a really interesting and informative visit to the Solent Solar Farm, where we saw nearly 10,000 solar panels in action.  Did you know that it cost £2.6million to build...but that it will repay itself in 8 years?  It produces enough energy for 650 homes (or the equivalent of a quarter of a million light bulbs).  Is this the answer to our energy crisis?  Y6 are certainly forming their own opinions on the matter...
